Information about Rachel
Teaching has always been a central part of my life and it gives me great pleasure to help people of all ages and abilities to unlock their capabilities and develop a passion for learning, whilst ensuring that learning is fun.
I am a warm, supportive and conscientious English and Music tutor, having trained and qualified in the London Borough of Hounslow. At present my roles include being head of English at a small independent college, where I run the IGCSE English Language and Literature courses and the A-Level English Literature courses, and teaching from home in my specialist teaching room. Here, I tutor students ranging in age from 5-65 on a variety of instruments, offer supplementary primary and secondary school English tuition, 11+ tuition (English, maths and non-verbal reasoning) and support with audition performances for university and drama school applications.
More recently I have been selected by AQA to examine their creative writing A-Level course, a brand new qualification which allows students to further explore creative writing and develop skills touched upon at GCSE level.
I tutor students in a one-to-one setting or in small groups of up to four student. I often tutor siblings or friends together and can accommodate groups of up to four students per session. Students do not need to be working on the same thing in order to share a lesson as I prepare each lesson in advance and resources are ready on the table as the student arrives. The majority of my 11+ lessons are taught in a group setting. *Lesson fees range from £32.50 to £17.50 for sessions, depending on how many students are in each group.
Additional 11+ Services:
Mini-mocks and full length mocks. I welcome new faces to these sessions - they are designed as `stand alone` sessions and there is no obligation to sign up for weekly tuition in order to partake in this experience.
Additional Home Education Services:
IGCSE English Language and Literature courses from my home for small groups of home-educated students.
Additional GCSE Servies:
Revision workshops for groups of up to eight students.
In my free time I perform in an acapella choir and enjoy walking my Labrador, Millie, in the surrounding countryside.
