I am `Outstanding` English teacher with over 10 years of experience of teaching GCSE, IGCSE and A-levels along with Key stage 3 curriculum. I am also a GCSE and A-level examiner with AQA and Edexcel. I was also an A-level tutor with Access, a government-initiative designed to bridge the gap in educational attainment across different sectors of society.

Throughout my career as a teacher, I have worked to build student confidence in their own understanding of English texts and written work. I work on building students` understanding of texts by providing detailed analysis and annotation so that their understanding is comprehensive and thorough. Students often get stuck on not knowing how to develop or write essays and through modelling essays, my students gradually build on this much needed skill. As an examiner, I know exactly the areas a student needs to work on to achieve a high result and I work on developing these skills patiently and systematically with the student.

I have a wealth of resources and through my experience, know very quickly the areas a student struggles with and how to build on that. My rapport with my students is excellent and I strongly believe in instilling a love of literature and language so that they become confident writers and feel they can tackle their exams to the best of their ability.

For younger students, it is important that they work on building essential inference and analytical skills and that they remain engaged and interested in English as they progress over the years. I bring in enthusiasm and passion to my teaching, with a clear and structured method to help build student understanding and knowledge.

I have taught at in inner-city New York at the start of my teaching career. I moved to London and most of my teaching career has spanned here with my most recent role at a private, online school. Thus, I have amassed a range of experience and insight into different demographics and am extremely respectful of the backgrounds my students come from. As an OLEVI certified teacher, I strongly believe in shaping a student`s experience in their educational journey so that they develop into respectful, mature people and this can be achieved through mutual respect and rapport.

My GCSE and A-level results have been consistently high in my department and was shortlisted as BKSB`s `English Teacher of the year` category, nominated by my manager. I have received `Outstanding` in my Ofsted observed lessons as well as my internal review.
