Information about Nigel

Qualified to B.Sc, Ph.D level I have been successfully tutoring Maths and Physics to GCSE and A-level for 8 years.I find both Maths and Physics totally fascinating subjects, and try to instil some of my enthusiasm for them into my students.

I am married to a teacher, who is qualified to B.A and PGSE and also works as a private tutor. We work very much as a team, with her tutoring the younger students, while I concentrate on the older ones.

Availability: Weekdays late mornings, afternoons and evenings.

Although I prefer to find weekday slots, I am prepared to work on Saturday late mornings or afternoons if a weekday slot cannot be found.

Please note that I only work from my home, where I have all my teaching resources readily to hand.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: After getting my Ph.D I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where I had a number of lecturing duties.

After my time as a Research Fellow, I joined the scientific branch of the Civil Service, where I worked on a number of projects in the field of electronics and communications.

As a general guide I expect to improve a student`s performance by at least one grade. Sometimes I can achieve an improvement of two or more grades, but, of course, that depends on the student putting in the necessary work.

While I clearly cannot name references the following are extracts from some emails sent to me.

"Thought you would like to know Cam got an A* for Maths and an A in Further Maths..... Thanks again for your tuition which he really enjoyed and found very helpful." 13/08/2013.

"I am writing to thank you for your tutoring which assisted me in achieving an A in Edexcel A2 mathematics.Overall I gained 510 out of 600 ums aith A grades in C1,C2,C4,s1 and D1 plua a C in C3. Thanks again. Josh" 15/08/2014.

"I just wanted to let you know that I managed to obtain an A in my GCSE maths. This would not have been possible without your tutoring for many years. Thank you! From Phoebe" 29/08/2013

Thank you Nigel for all your support and effort, for being flexible and adaptable on numerous occasions and most importantly for increasing Adam`s confidence in Physics at A level.
Much appreciated and highly recommended.
