A few words about me:
Before turning into a full time Maths Tutor I used to be a Researcher and Teaching Associate of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Bristol for seven years. I hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering/ Engineering Mathematics. I have always been passionate about the subject and I`m on a mission to help by sharing my experience and enthusiasm with students, whether they want to brush up on their understanding of fractions or prepare for and undergrad exam. Over the last 6 years I have helped 80+ students to achieve their goals.
University level Engineering Mathematics and teaching had been my daily job for many years so not only do I teach theory but I can also show where the acquired knowledge may lead you later in life. My approach to tuition/teaching is relaxed but focused. I`m keen to build up relationships where we work together and you can share all your Maths related worries. Where you feel listened to and are comfortable asking questions. I`m a dad of three so I`m indeed used to explain things from different perspectives, because I`m not happy until the penny drops.
When I`m not teaching, I`m having fun with my family or running around in the woods or cycling. Or any possible combinations of these.
If this is something you`re looking for do get in touch!

My son really benefited from the lessons with Dr Nandor. He was able to identify the exact topics he needed help in and focus on helping him with that. I would highly recommend this tutor.

I`m a mature student returning to maths after a gap of over a decade. Since July last year, Nandor and I have worked together on an old pre-calculus textbook (Basic Mathematics by Serge Lang), prepared for Oxford`s Mathematics Admissions Test, and smashed through the A-level Further Mathematics syllabus. Nandor took me from a rudimentary understanding of A-level Mathematics to offers to study BSc maths and computer science courses at Bristol, Bath and UCL. I chose to work with Nandor because he`s very engaging and was very responsive to my contributions when we were solving problems together. Other tutors seemed content to watch me struggle with a problem and then just demonstrate the "correct" procedure. By contrast, Nandor is a master of giving hints rather than spoilers. He likes to lay a breadcrumb trail for the student to pick up, which is very engaging. Nandor`s other strengths have been in helping me understand the structure underpinning problems, rather than just the procedure to apply to a given question. The decision modules in A-level Further Maths include a lot of algorithms that are presented in the textbook as things to memorise and perform. Recognising that I was dissatisfied with mindlessly applying algorithms, Nandor helped me derive and understand the maths underpinning the decision theory, which I found really stimulated my interest in the subject. Another thing I really like about Nandor`s approach: he never made me feel stupid. Every student makes silly errors when learning new material, but Nandor was always very patient and I never felt judged for making a run of basic mistakes when adding single digit integers, for example. This is in total contrast to some other tutors I tried out, and indeed my memories of learning maths at school! In summary, Nandor has been a great tutor to me for the past year. He`s really brought maths alive for me, and our sessions have been the highlight of my week. I thoroughly recommend him.
