Information about Michael
I have 30 years experience as a science teacher and GCSE Examiner, helping to finalise the mark scheme and marking the GCSE papers. This has helped me to understand the importance of good exam technique and to make pupils aware of how easily marks are lost, even by able pupils, simply through not understanding the way exam questions work, or what the examiner is expecting. I am convinced that good exam technique makes a significant difference.
There are many people who teach science, I teach pupils. I don`t just impart knowledge, I`m interested in seeing the reaction of the pupil. Have they understood it? Or are they still not sure? They may say they understand, but that is not always accurate. Moving on too quickly is not helpful and will leave them confused and disheartened, the last thing you want. Equally, you don`t want the pace to be too easy or too slow.
I also know how important it is for pupils to learn how to learn - vital skills that needs training and development, but which equip them for life.
Availability: I have availability Tuesday after school and Wednesday after school/evenings. I also have availability on Sunday mornings.
I will be available through most of the summer holiday
