I have many years of experience teaching Biology at A level and GCSE level & Physics & Chemistry to KS3 level. I have taught in Comprehensive and Grammar Schools and I was Head of Biology in my last full time position. I have experience with helping students who are aiming at A grades as well as those wanting to achieve a ‘safe pass’. I now tutor students on a one-to-one or small group basis.
I am also an experienced Senior Examiner for AQA GCSE Biology so I am very aware of the skills which are needed to be developed to accurately answer exam questions
I have also tutored students under the LEA `Home Tuition` program These are students who were not attending school for a variety of reasons
I believe in helping students by ensuring that basic concepts are really understood, not just learnt by rote This is essential if the more challenging ideas are to be used to answer exam questions. I also try & use as many visual aids as possible to help students learn & remember important information. It is important for a student to have confidence in their abilities and this happens as understanding grows.
As a mother of 3 children I am very aware of the pressures which students feel when they are studying for exams and I fully understand that many students find science subjects very demanding!
I can tutor on a regular basis or to help when a difficult topic is being studied

I have been a home tutor for 7 years and have helped more that 40 students achieve good grades both at GCSE & A level. I have tutored students for the new A level syllabus for AQA, OCR and Edexcel and the IB Biology.
