Information about Luke

Hello! I am an enthusiastic and a very patient teacher who promises a fun and friendly approach to learning an instrument for all ages and abilities - from complete beginners right up to experienced players.

Availability: My weekly schedule is flexible. I can teach on weekday afternoons and evenings. I am often available to teach during school holidays if required. I also teach online, so very happy to organise lessons via Skype, Zoom or by whichever means you prefer.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have been teaching privately for over a decade as well as having extensive experience of group teaching, peripatetic teaching and coaching small ensembles and orchestral wind sections. I have given lessons at the American School in London, the Centre for Young Musicians Hackney and at Music’all in Fulham as well as at the City of London School for Boys as part of the Art of Teaching Module at the Royal College of Music. I’ve also been the Woodwind Mentor on the Pro Corda Chamber Orchestra Course at Leiston Abbey, Suffolk as well as coaching the London School’s Symphony Orchestra. I am currently the Visiting Woodwind Teacher at Queen’s College London and formerly of Queen’s College Preparatory School.

As a performer I have worked with professional orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Hallé, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Scottish Opera, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, English National Ballet, Royal Northern Sinfonia, London Mozart Players, English Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra and Aurora Orchestra.

In the UK I have performed in venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, Symphony Hall Birmingham, Bridgewater Hall Manchester, Philharmonic Hall Liverpool, Leeds Town Hall, Glasshouse Gateshead, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, City Halls Glasgow, Queen’s Hall Edinburgh as well as most regional theatres and arenas. I’ve also toured all across Europe, China and the Far East. I have performed in a variety of chamber ensembles as well as giving solo recitals for an array of different festivals, both nationally and internationally including the Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander, Spain.
