Information about Katie
I am a nurturing, patient teacher with a good sense of fun and humour! I have high expectations of all the children I teach and encourage them to aim high and build self-belief. I am committed to helping children develop a life-long love of learning.
I enjoy the challenge of adapting to the needs of each unique individual I work with and always undertake thorough assessments before undertaking tuition.
I am a very experienced primary teacher, of 16 years and can support children aged between 4-11, with their learning. I am also a SEND specialist; with expertise in ADHD, ASD and Dyselxia. I will soon be a qualified level 7 dyslexia specialist teacher, at which point I will be offering both diagnostic and tuition services for children experiencing literacy difficulties.
I can come to your home, where you will need to provide a small study area (quiet and tidy please) for your child and I to work in together. Please be aware that a parent or guardian needs to remain in the building during the tutoring, for safeguarding reasons.
Sessions are hourly, (plus a short 5 minute de-brief with parents/carers). 10 consecutive sessions are recommended as a minimum - this gives pupils the best chance of making accelerated progress.
Please contact me if you would like more details - I would be happy to provide a free telephone consultation to share with you more information with you and to see if I may be a good fit for your child.
Availability: Limited sessions available, please contact me to enquire.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have a proven track record of accelerating pupil progress, within a short period of time. I am currently offering one to one tuition in Northamptonshire and some parts of Milton Keynes, for children aged 4-11.
As a fully qualified teacher, I have 16 years experience - rated `outstanding` in my previous school setting and confirmed by Ofsted inspectors. I was also the school SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) and have a wealth of experience in teaching under achieving pupils, with and without additional needs. I have tutored many pupils one to one, both in schools and as a private tutor, filling gaps in knowledge and boosting confidence. I have helped pupils prepare for year 6 SATS, with 100% pass rate - with many children exceeding expectations. I also have my own young children and am up to date with the current curriculum and targets.
