Hello I`m Julia Jane, specialist teacher of History of Art and Art & Design. I offer face to face, online, and in gallery learning. This enhances learning, knowledge, and creativity and builds all round confidence.

I have detailed knowledge of and vast experience teaching Edexcel, A-level History of Art Syllabus. Also art school applications, portfolio preparation and interview practice and techniques to give you the best chance gaining a place.

My successful home education in the arts and humanities is gaining momentum and I am happy to talk about your individual learning needs.

Past art students have progressed to the Royal College of Art, Kingston University London, City & Guilds of London Art School, Central Saint Martins. History of Art students have gained places at The Courtauld, Sussex University, Bristol and Durham Universities.

As a hybrid artist and an art historian myself, brings a unique experience that enriches learning as both subjects embellish and complement each other.

Availability: I am in the process of timetabling for my September 2023 returners and welcoming newcomers for home educated learners, adult learners and colleges. And all those wanting a career change mentor to move into the arts.

I offer online sessions outside of normal working hours - early mornings, evenings and weekends. Face to face, in person sessions can also take place evenings and weekends.

My regular students and learners are free to contact me between sessions for support and questions. When I spot an article, artist or gallery exhibition connected to a student interest, I send them the information.

NOTE: For tuition at a student home, I add an extra £10 per visit, to cover time involved.

Experience: In 2009 whilst living in Barcelona, I began what has grown into a vibrant arts education practice, where I began tutoring and mentoring as a home educator in the arts and humanities subjects. Demand for adult education in the arts followed and I set up TEAS - The English Art School. The methodology being to improve English and Humanities whilst learning about art and design.

My learners work on clarifying and underpinning what is expected of them by examination boards and art schools. I support you in approaches and techniques in writing skills, academic writing of your essay, dissertation or your artist statement.

Embracing all aspects of a subject brings it to life and improves outcomes so, sessions can take place at art school shows, arts libraries, open artist studios and in art galleries — the best understanding being gained by engaging first hand with the art works and meeting artists in person.

I give talks on History of Art, as guest Art Historian for organisations. And I tailor engaging art gallery learning for individuals and small groups.
