Information about Joshua

I have been a full-time private maths tutor for 7 years. Before that I was a maths teacher at a local comprehensive school from 2000 to 2007. I have always liked maths and I get a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction from tutoring. I have several ways of explaining mathematical topics and I always try to ensure that my students understand what they are learning rather than just follow a rule blindly. I encourage my students to ask as many questions as they need to. At the start of my lessons I do a quick recap of topics covered in previous weeks, making a note of what has been remembered and what needs a bit more work.

Here is some information about my teaching experience:
From 2000 to 2007 I was a maths teacher at Fortismere School, a mixed comprehensive secondary school in Muswell Hill. Each year I taught a full range of classes from Year 7 up to and including A-level.
For the last 7 years I have been a full time private maths tutor. In that time I have tutored well over a hundred pupils, covering Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-level mathematics. Several parents have told me that they would be very happy to provide references for me if required. In 2010/2011 I also tutored several Year 7, 8 and 9 pupils at Northumberland Park Community School as part of the government`s one-to-one tuition scheme. The year before that I tutored small groups of GCSE pupils at Friern Barnet School for eleven weeks in the run up to their exams.
I am a GCSE and A-level examiner for two exam boards (Edexcel and OCR), and I have a maths degree from Imperial College.

Our son is very happy with the lessons. Joshua is an excellent maths tutor. He asks questions during the lesson to check my son is clear on the topic before moving on. Will definitely recommend him.
