Experience: I am a fully qualified English Teacher (QTS) with a history of successful GCSE and A-Level examination results. I have taught in the UK and abroad for over 20 years. Until 2019, I have been a full-time English Teacher in schools. I have barely been active on Tutor Hunt hence why I do not have any reviews. As a matter of fact, I only launched my own online tutoring business in 2020 during the pandemic whilst going part-time at the 11 - 18 independent school where I work. The students I was tutoring privately went on to achieve exceptional results for their 2022 English Language GCSEs: the home-schooled student achieved an amazing grade 9 (131/160) whilst the other one achieved a high grade 7.

Even though, I am a trained English specialist and I have taught English and English Literature up to GCSE and A-Level in mainstream secondary school for many years, I do have experience working in Further Education (I was the Head of the English department in a college), and more recently, I gained some experience working in an independent preparatory school. My teaching has been rated outstanding by OFSTED four times under four different inspections.

Alongside my own tutoring business, I am equally registered with a tutoring agency where I am already providing targeted 1:1 online tuition to a range of ages and abilities. I am fully versed in the operation of online educational platforms like: The Unicko Virtual Classroom and Google Classroom. Using Google Classroom and Google Meet (Video Calls) has enabled me to make my online lessons highly interactive, engaging and meaningful. This online approach has proven to be extremely effective; I am able to give immediate feedback to my students as they are typing their work. This consequently engages them in active learning throughout the session and helps develop their metacognition (an awareness and understanding of one`s own thought processes); a tried and tested educative method paramount to ensuring pupils’ progress.

Having worked in a number of schools, I have ample experience preparing exam classes for the AQA, Edexcel, Cambridge/ Edexcel IGCSE, OCR, WJEC and Eduqas to name a few. I am au fait with the New English Curriculum, including assessments and examinations. Furthermore, I have at hand an array of resources that can be easily adapted to an individual’s age and abilities.

Moreover, being a GCSE English Language Examiner, I have at hand the latest tips to help my GCSE students maximise marks in a National English Examination.

Last but not least, I have a proven track record of producing exceptional GCSE/A-Level examination results in English year in and year out. Please see below some of the achievements:

• 2022 GCSE English Language results with 85% of a set 4 group achieving grades 9 to 6.

• Brilliant 2022 A-Level English Literature Exam results with 100% A* - B.

• 2017 GCSE English Language results with 76% of a set 3 group achieving grades 8 to 4 equivalent to 23 out of 29 pupils achieving A* to C (including 2 pupils achieving A* and one pupil making a phenomenal progress from a KS2 baseline of 3b to a B grade in English Language)

• Exceptional GCSE results in 2016 with 93% A* – C in English Language
(with only 2 pupils missing out on a C grade in a middle ability set of 30). At least two pupils achieving an A grade in English Language – one of them joining the school at a mere KS2 baseline of 4c.
More than 10 of the group achieving a B grade in English Language not to mention those who achieved A and A* in English Literature. 40% of the group achieving more than their expected target grade.

• Brilliant A2 English language and Literature exam results of 80% A-B in 2017.

All in all, a dynamic, versatile and innovative tutor who is prepared to work across all ages and abilities; a tutor who is passionate about teaching and is committed to helping each of her students achieve their full potential.
