In April 2016, I was employed by Justin Craig Education to deliver an A Level English Literature Workshop at a school in Cheshunt. This was based on the outgoing OCR specification for AS English Literature. With 8-10 middle band candidates (grades B-D learners), we revised core poetry from the Yeats OCR Anthology and excerpts from Mary Shelley`s Frankenstein. For the latter, I introduced historical context including extracts from Mary Wollstonecraft`s The Vindication of Women`s Rights. We also collaboratively deconstructed a January past paper question on the creator vs. the creation. We analysed the question holistically by going beyond the monster as just one example of the creation. For example, Frankenstein also partly contributed to Elizabeth`s upbringing and, therefore, he created her ultimate downfall. I was also employed by the very same company in connection with the London Freeman`s School in December 2015 for an A Level English Language position. I primarily assisted learners following the heritage AS and A2 English Language Specification B course (provided by AQA). We revised the Categorising Texts exam (AS retake ENGB1) as well as the Developing Language (A2 exam ENGB3) modules. With my assistance and encouragement, the learners revised Linguistic Theory including Child Development Theorists and Gendered Language Transcri pt Analysis including how to decode and analyse a transcri pt Child Language Acquisition with reference to how children converse with one another and adults as well as how children construct their own texts (graphology). We also covered Language and Power, Language and Gender and Language and Technology.
