Janet (Tutor in Surrey)
Information about Janet
I have countless success stories of students that I tutored online and at home.
I have the ability to explain any level of maths in a very simple way. My students often say I make maths easy.
I am organised and patient and my friendly approachable character make students feel welcome.
As someone with a positive attitude towards Maths, I can transfer this positive attitude to the student.
I believe that most students have good mathematical ability, but often struggle with their confidence in Maths.
I help students feel much more confident and motivated, which increases their ability. During the lessons I always check that the student can do the work covered in school since I last saw them. We focus on problem areas, helping the student to deal with misconceptions, practice examination techniques and recent exam questions, working at each students pace.
Recently I got this message from a parent: M wrote about you as his most inspirational teacher in his UCAS personal statement!

Experience: I am well experienced teaching all ages from children to adults. I have taught students with a wide range of abilities, from those who are preparing for entrance exams right through to students studying A-levels and those trying to achieve an A or A*. I am familiar with all exam boards. I have an endless supply of worksheets and past papers and practice papers. I can therefore provide lots of practice on every topic.
I successfully worked with students with various learning disabilities, which included dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, Asperger syndrome, slow processing and ADHD. I taught students from most schools and colleges in my area and some from around the world (online). During my time as maths tutor, I learnt how to apply different teaching methods to suit individual students learning needs. I have been successful in building students confidence, enjoyment and motivation to achieve the highest possible marks in all Maths exams. For some it was a pass and for others it was an A or A*. (One of my students achieved 99% in his final IGCSE exam).
I am a well experienced QTS Numeracy Skills Tutor with countless success stories of students, from all over England and Ireland, that I helped to pass this challenging test.

Janet has made a big difference to my son`s maths. She`s made it a lot clearer for him to understand, and his grades are improving.
My son is finding Janet very organised and approachable. She is also very knowledgeable and makes the pupil understand with ease. I recommend Janet to any student.
So so helpful ! I only saw Janet once as I had an algebra test coming up and really no idea what I was doing, Janet explained everything clearly and gave me plenty of practice worksheets to go away with and I fully credit her with me passing at a merit. If Id had more time with her Im sure I could have achieved a distinction. Highly recommended!
Tutors Response :
Thank you and congrats with your excellent pass!
Very friendly teacher, My daughter thoroughly looking forward to every week.
Janet is a gem and I feel so fortunate that we found her. She is my sons only maths tutor/teacher taking him through his final year of his IGCSE course and preparing him for exams in May/June. Janet is extremely organised, patient, well resourced and friendly. She has an amazing ability to explain things in a way that my son understands but continuously checks for mastery in key skills and not just competence before moving on to higher level problems. I think this has really helped to build his confidence and therefore his motivation in the subject. At the start of year 11 my son found himself excluded from school with difficulties associated with ADHD. Since working with Janet his ability, understanding and confidence has developed and he hasn`t looked back. He`s now considering A`Level maths as an option.
As an adult who never grasped maths as a Child, Janet has been superb in improving my confidence and showing me I did understand my than I thought. When Janet stated we were going right back to basics my heart sank. She was however, absolutely correct and as noted above this is given me the confidence to believe I can do it, If I thin about it for more than 2 seconds.
Janet helped me with my AS Level maths (core 1 and Core 2). I found her to be very helpful as she was able to specifically tackle the problems I had and helped me to boost my confidence with answering difficult questions. She was also a very pleasant person to talk to and always encouraged me to persevere with the bits I found hard.
My Daughter Saffron is currently undertaking her GSCE’s a year early and was really struggling in Maths. She had no confidence and got really anxious when she had to undertake any form of Maths tests. Janet has been tutoring her, for nearly 6 months now and there has been a huge improvement with her understanding in this subject area. Janet has showed my Daughter different techniques and her confidence has grown so much. Janet is friendly and easy to get along with she explains things clearly and is very patient. My Daughter feels very relaxed in her company I would definitely recommend her for tutoring.
