Information about Janet
Maths tuition in Horley and Online. I have more than 12 years experience as a private tutor. I have countless success stories of students that I tutored online and at home. I have the ability to explain any level of Maths in a very simple way. My students often say I make Maths easy.
I am organised and patient and my friendly approachable character make students feel welcome.
As someone with a positive attitude towards Maths, I can transfer this positive attitude to the student.
I believe that most students have good mathematical ability, but often struggle with their confidence in Maths. I help students feel much more confident and motivated, which increases their ability.
Recently I got this message from a parent: M wrote about you as his most inspirational teacher in his UCAS personal statement!

Experience: I have more than 12 years experience as a private tutor. I am well experienced teaching all ages from children to adults. I have taught students with a wide range of abilities, from those who are preparing for entrance exams right through to students studying A-levels and those trying to achieve an A or A*. I am familiar with all exam boards. I have an endless supply of worksheets and past papers and practice papers. I can therefore provide lots of practice on every topic.
I successfully worked with students with various learning disabilities, which included dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, Asperger syndrome, slow processing and ADHD. I taught students from most schools and colleges in my area and some from around the world (online). During my time as maths tutor, I learnt how to apply different teaching methods to suit individual students learning needs. I have been successful in building students confidence, enjoyment and motivation to achieve the highest possible marks in all Maths exams. For some it was a pass and for others it was an A or A*.
During the lessons I always check that the student can do the work covered in school since I last saw them. We focus on problem areas, helping the student to deal with misconceptions, practice examination techniques and recent exam questions, working at each students pace. After online sessions I email lesson notes to the student.

My daughter has had 2 lessons with Janet so far. She has found her to be very helpful. Janet is very good at making things clear and helping her to understand the topics she is having trouble with.
