Information about Julia
I am a Mathematics graduate with Level 3 Award in Education and Training. I ran at least ten four day courses delivering sessions on all aspects of starting a business for the Prince`s Trust, where I trained over 100 entrepreneurs and mentored them through their journey.
I have tutored students in years 8-11 in Mathematics. At University I taught French and German to years 7-10 in a teaching module. Tutoring is great fun as I find there is a lot of scope for creativity in the ways we can explore topics together, using drawing, colours and diagrams as well as different ways of looking at problems. It is my belief that everyone can understand and enjoy Mathematics and that often the biggest block to success is confidence. I love to help tutees understand by using creative explanations and fun techniques. I hope that I can help you or your child too.
Availability: I am available immediately.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I assisted with a class in the UAS and taught a few year 10 French and German full class lessons.
I tutored friends in Mathematics at school. In London I tutored a year 8 pupil in Mathematics and French for 8 months. In Bristol I tutored a year 10 pupil with dyslexia in Mathematics for 6 months. I then tutored a year 9 pupil with Developmental Learning Disorder in Science and Mathematics for a year and a year 8 pupil with Dyslexia in Mathematics for 3 months.
I worked in year 2 to complete part of a Schools Direct Teacher Training course, teaching all subjects.
In 2015 I went on the International Citizens Service Entrepreneur Scheme and lived in Kenya for three months, where I was taught entrepreneurial skills and trained local entrepreneurs.
On my return to Bristol I ran four day Enterprise courses that covered: legal structures of businesses, personal finance, credit scores, marketing, sales, tax, cashflows, profit margin, pricing and how to write a business plan. I trained over 100 entrepreneurs, alongside mentoring 18-30 year olds through the start up process.
Currently I read with year 6 children once a week online.
