Information about Hakan
I am one of a few teachers in the country who deliver Masterclasses in mathematics for the Royal Institution.
I am a qualified teacher with QTS and with Enhanced DBS. I have been teaching maths and sciences for around fifteen years. I have taught in state and prestigious independent schools and have experience teaching KS1 to KS5 inclusive. I have also worked as the head of the maths and physics department in a high-achieving sixth-form college in London.
I obtained a BSc in mathematical physics and an MSc in mathematics from Queen Mary University of London. My PhD is in mathematical Physics, namely Quantum Mechanics on phase space, from the University of Nottingham.
I also worked as a researcher of STEM. My role as an educational researcher in a government-funded project was instrumental in maximizing students` chances to achieve top exam grades. I had the privilege of working with top-achieving independent schools in the UK, including Eton, St Paul`s School London, and Wellington, to implement effective strategies.
I prepare students for the top independent schools’ entrance exams, 11+ and 13+ entrance and scholarship exams.
As an Oxbridge coordinator and strategist, I play a unique role in maximizing students’ chances of entering Oxford, Cambridge, and other top universities. My strategies are tailored to each student, ensuring they have the best possible chance of success.
I currently work part-time as a mathematics lecturer at a university in the UK.
Availability: Any afternoon except Saturday.

I have been seeing Hakan in order to improve my maths as part of a move to further my career. As an adult learner, I have found him engaging and enjoyable to learn from and have been very pleased with the progress he has helped me to make. His explainations of any of the concepts I have struggled with, have been clear and succinct, he has set me questions to work on in my own time, which we have then gone through at the next session where he has explained any error I have made. I would highly recommend Hakan.

Mr Hakan was contacted concerning my son`s requirement for physics lessons for his A level, but what struck me was when I called him he took his time to ask him questions. I`m not talking about a 10-minute conversation; he spent at least an hour and half trying to figure out how he might assist. My son has been working with him for a few months and has made significant progress in both math and physics, which by the way he never thought he needed maths when we signed up but Mr Hakan believed it would be beneficial to enhance the physics. When I ask my son how he likes it, he answers, "Mummy, this is the best decision I`ve ever made." I highly recommend him if you are looking for a tutor to bring the best out of your child.

Hakan is supporting my son for A level maths for only 3 months but the progress of my son is already remarkable. Hakan has been great in his communication with my son and has been incredible with his teaching skills. Now my son is very confident with his topics and his attitude to learning complex topics has totally changed in a very positive way. Thanks to Hakan !
