Information about Nathan
I have a passion for learning and a real love of the subjects I teach and seeing young people learn and progress. My sessions are fun and enjoyable, focused on the development needs of the individual to give them to tools, confidence and enthusiasm to take their own learning forward.
I have done lots of jobs away from teaching from working on a market stall (cold and wet), to business immigration consultant (about as boring as it sounds), and travelling and working round South America for 2 years. I was born and brought up in South London but have lived in Glossop since 2008.
Availability: Before I start lessons I like to meet both client and student, to get to know each other and make an assessment of a student`s needs. I find this is essential before starting tuition to be able to tailor sessions for each individual student. I do not charge for this meeting.
In addition, as an exclusive offer to Tutorhunt clients, I offer a first lesson for free. This essentially covers your costs for using tutorhunt.
My availability changes through the year. I generally am busiest before exams in the spring, and have free afternoons in September as the new year starts.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I started teaching 20 years ago as a teacher of English as a foreign Language. I then qualified as a key stage 2/3 teacher with a specialism in English.
I have 6 years experience working in key stage 2, including training novice teachers at university and mentoring trainee teachers. Despite my background in English, I have become known as a science and maths specialist in schools due to my enthusiasm for these subjects.
I currently work for Derbyshire County Council tutoring pupils who are unable to attend school due to illness or exclusion - either coaching pupils through their GCSE exams, or re-engaging them with education and re-integrating them into full time education.
I have worked as a private tutor for 6 years and am happy to provide references on request.

Nathan is really engaging and energetic, which is exactly what my son needs, who struggles at school. The lessons are particularly challenging, as they are via zoom, due to social distancing rules. Regardless of this, my son has actually developed, some enthusiasm For maths as Nathan keeps it fun and is extremely encouraging.
