Information about Emma
I am a qualified Maths teacher who specialises in personal tutoring and small group tuition. I am always delighted with feedback from parents and pupils, and with the progress that my pupils make. I personalise my students` learning to what and how they want to learn. I`m not a stuffy old professor - I believe that Maths should be fun and I try to find activities that will help with motivation, understanding, and success at those all important exams.
Availability: Slots are generally at 4.25 or 5.30pm weekdays. I mainly work in the Tadcaster/Boston Spa/ Bramham area.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I am currently a school-based tutor working with pupils in years 7 to increase their attainment and understanding. In addition to this, I privately tutor 15 pupils a week after school from years 6-11, and have been doing so for over 15 years.
I know syllabuses and exams for the main three GCSE bodies - Edexcel, AQA and OCR, and I have also been an examiner for Maths GCSE so can give advice on how to avoid the common mistakes I have seen from pupils every year!
Although going through past papers can be very helpful in the run up to exams, I also have a huge collection of Maths activities to aid understanding and increase enjoyment of the subject. I like to bring my laptop too, with software and games that pupils will be familiar with from school.
I have been highly commended for my communication skills, reliability and ability to enthuse and instil confidence in my students.
