I am a fully qualified and experienced Secondary school teacher and I also teach students for whom English is an additional language. I have a first class degree with honours in Linguistics and Phonetics and a Masters with distinction in Linguistics, specialising in phonetics and phonology.

Tuition takes place at my home in Headingley although another mutually convenient venue can be arranged.

Availability: As a full time, self employed private tutor, I am available at any mutually convenient time including daytimes, evenings and weekends.

Experience: I am an experienced English teacher having worked in a number of Leeds Secondary schools. I also work with students for whom English is an additional language and am an accent training specialist. I have been working as a private tutor for eight years and for the last five of these it has been my main job.

I am hardworking and enthusiastic and I enjoy creating lessons using a variety of learning styles that are centred on the needs of the learner.

Before qualifying as a Secondary English teacher I taught Linguistics and Phonetics to undergraduate students, worked in a bookshop and worked in a forensic audio phonetics laboratory using my skills in English to solve crimes. I hope to bring a little of my varied experience and enthusiasm for language to our tutoring sessions!
