I have enjoyed being a private tutor since taking early retirement from the post of Vice Principal of an FE college, five years ago. I believe in encouraging students to lead the learning process and in giving much positive support so that they gain in confidence.

Whilst an OFSTED inspector for 9 years I had the privilege of observing some really excellent teachers and try to put into practice what I learned from them. The luxury of time to prepare my teaching sessions fully is most satisfying. I tend to keep the numbers I teach fairly small so I can focus on their particular issues.

This year two of my students turned a D at AS level Physics into a B grade at A level. All but one of my many students have gained a ‘pass’ grade and one year 3 of the five students gained an A grade at A level. The best student achieved an A grade in A level Physics in one year! Two of my students gained A star in 3 out of 4 science and maths subjects at GCSE, and the last one an 8

It is so gratifying to receive ‘thank you’ cards from my students. I prefer to teach students in my home where I have a nice peaceful room but can also travel.

Availability: Good availability during the day, weekends and early evenings. Commitments change but can be rearranged if needed.
