Information about Dave

22/04/24 I am currently tutoring 35 plus students. During May/June I will have availability for Year 12 A Level Economics and A Level Business students. Starting on monday 13th May I have availability on mondays from 5-6pm and 7-8pm. My two business studies students that took a level business exams in October achieved an A* (from a C grade) and an A grade from a D grade. I helped a Year 12 economics student come 2nd in his year of 104 economists in a school exam just before Xmas and he is targeting Oxbridge. I now offer A star a level economics exemplar answers for Edexcel Syllabus A, AQA and OCR for my current and future students on an unlimited license as part of my long term offering. These are released incrementally throughout the academic year with all info available at the start of the Easter holidays.

21/08/23 - I now have 27 "A" level results in. I am delighted for my students and their families, having achieved 1 A*, 7As, 8Bs, 6Cs, 3Ds and 2E, with an average grade improvement (compared to mock exams or Year 12 exams) of 1.5 which is strong. For one of my students on an A who achieves an A there is no grade improvement though a great performance across two year`s work. For another student who was on a U in their mock exam to achieve a C grade that`s a three grade increase. Overall I am delighted! Some of these lower results are with students who were really struggling and on average there is a significant improvement. The more academically gifted students have performed strongly. Interested in a tutor - take a read of my profile.

07/08/2023 - I now have 25 plus students moving into Year 13 and 2 students about to start Year 12. I am available for online home schooling. I have availability during August though am now starting to plan for September term-time tutoring. I need to move my existing students plus new students who are looking for my services into term time slots. I have limited availability for a further ten students. My availability for September slots for new students is typically some weekday afternoons from 2pm to 5pm, sunday afternoons and sunday evenings as well as weekday morning and lunchtime slots (when students have free periods). Last year I tutored around 20 Year 12 over the summer holidays (with breaks) as virtually all schools have some form of September / early October assessments as the last indicator of the UCAS grade prediction.

As an examiner I have recently attended an examiner`s conference as part of my CPD.

20/08/2022 Really pleasing - A level results from my students coming in 2 "A*"s, 4 "A"s, 9 "B"s and 2 "C"s. One "A" star was from a "D" grade and one "C" was from a "U" grade.

12/08/2021 A Level results: 12 "A" grades, 6 "B" grades, 2 "C" and 1"E" grade - and that E grade student and their parents and thrilled as it has secured their place in Milan fashion school university (was on a "U" grade) - all online tutoring.

05/04/21 Last April to October I was taking Year 12 students through preparation for UCAS predicted grades given by teachers in the Autumn of Year 13. This included preparation for both June exams and September/October exams given students had missed a significant amount of face to face schooling. I`ll be doing the same during this period this year. I was tutoring about 15 Year 12 students last year. I am currently tutoring 15 Year 12 students and will have slot availability for a further ten students. Drop me a note if you are interested in exploring a structured proven approach to achieving in a pandemic. Work over the summer is key. Incidentally both my children did this to support successful entry into medical school, of course with some time off.

I am passionate about education, learning and development and have expertise in tutoring, coaching and mentoring students. I relate to, and get on with, people. I teach Business Studies and Economics both to UK and international students (see tutoring experience). I am a member of the UK professional tutoring body. As a volunteer, I serve as a Board Director on a National Educational body. As parents we have successfully facilitated both our son and daughter getting into medical school. I add value and provide a whole high quality educational experience.

I provide 1:1 online tutoring in my global online classroom to UK and international students. 100% of my tutoring to "A" level students was online.
I tutor home schooled students and provide online tutoring for A level groups in schools to add value / cover absence.
Individual and group tutoring (subject to demand) are also available during school holidays.

23/8/19
My latest innovation for this academic years is to facilitate bringing appropriately matched students (same year, same subject and exam board, similar intellect and personality fit) together online to:
a) share ideas and help each other consider arguments and different perspectives
b) discuss homework set by myself to both students
c) discuss exam paper questions together
d) revise together

I have over 15 years experience in education and training within industry managing, designing and delivering learning solutions, both on a one to one basis, to classrooms of students and to thousands of students. I am a qualified teacher and have 8 year`s teaching, face to face and online tutoring experience with impressive outcomes.

I have deep subject matter knowledge from my roles in industry combined by a real ability to engage with students, bring subjects to life and explain things really simply. I have worked in education at schools, within Businesses, in Banking and in Information Communication Technology and am able to provide tutees with real life practical examples in business and economics which really adds to their learning.

As a volunteer I have been chair of a local sports club junior section managing over 280 juniors, 40 coaches and volunteers. I`m known for a sense of fun and humour, facilitating people`s development bringing the best out of them by bringing subjects to life. I`m a former hockey and tennis coach, am married with a couple of teenagers so I understand the parent`s view.

My first lesson as a planning lesson, which also includes online testing of the online tutoring. Assuming the tutee is happy to continue, which has currently always been the case, there is a contract to sign and a minimum of eight hours tutoring for the tutee to sign up to.

Availability: Mondays, Tuesdays , Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during the day and evenings, Saturday morning and Sundays.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: A qualified teacher, I have nine years successful teaching and tutoring experience at GCSE and "A" level with excellent feedback from my students and effective outcomes, including high grades at "A" level. My references and feedback scores support this and further provide you with an assurance of professional quality tutoring. I rely on providing an excellent service to develop both my reputation to clients and my business. In addition I am an examiner.

Over the summer 2016 I undertook continuous professional development on the new A Level specifications and attended formal training and have attended further formal training in June 2017.

Note: As well as the common exam boards, for Business Studies I tutor Cambridge International, and am tutoring students from overseas, including students from the UAE, Russia, India, China, Ukraine, Portugal, Austria and Spain. Cambridge Int reference below:

Our daughter decided to study Cambridge International Exam Board As and A2 Business Studies in one year while attending an International School in the Middle East. To support her school lessons, Dave tutored her online throughout the full year. Using his experience in business, he made the subject extremely interesting for her. He gave her confidence in her studies and provided her with excellent exam techniques coupled with invaluable examples. All of which enabled her to achieve her A*. (Note - the student received the highest grade in their subject in their country)
