20/8/26 20 A level results in so far. I am delighted with my students` successes. The students have achieved 2 "A" stars, 5 "A"s, 11 "B"s and 2 "C"s with my students on average improving by 1.3 grades which I am most proud of as remaining at an A grade for Year 12 to Year 13 is challenging (with no improved grade) balanced with some 3 grade and 2 grade improvements - which is excellent.

3/8/26 Available for August tutoring and taking students on for September start - book early to avoid disappointment as I do fill up quickly.

I am a qualified teacher, a passionate and highly experienced economics and business online tutor and typically tutor 35 students each year. I have eighteen years’ classroom and tutoring experience, am a current senior A Level examiner and brings a wealth of banking and business expertise, all to support my students.

I am passionate about tutoring and positive - always looking to aim high. I am passionate about every student achieving their potential, whatever that may be. Both my son and daughter are now doctors, having successfully completed their studies at UK medical schools.

I love sport having played National League hockey and have coached junior hockey helping my team win the county cup for three years running as well as playing tennis and I am a volunteer at my local tennis club. Thriving on new experiences and always learning, I have travelled across Africa and more recently to Saudi Arabia.

I have worked in banking, in international business for a global company and in teaching, so I bring the real world into my tutoring.

18/05/26 For Year 12s only - I am currently tutoring 35 A-level students 1:1 online. Slots for Year 12 students will start to come available to support Year 12 exams, summer term and summer holiday tutoring to help improve UCAS predicated grades. I have saturdays 11am-12, sundays 4pm-5pm and 5pm-6pm, tuesdays 8pm-9pm and wednesdays 6pm-7pm, and weekday daytime availability currently.

15/08/25 19 A level results in so far. I am delighted with my students` successes. The students have achieved 3 "A" stars, 4 "A"s, 8 "B"s and 4 "C"s with my Economics students on average improving by one grade - and remaining at an A grade for Year 12 to Year 13 is challenging - with no improved grade, so that is excellent. The use of model answers and investment in student access to the Economics Today magazine have been positive contributors supporting A stars.

16/05/25 I am now promoting slots to Year 12 students as my Year 13 students will be finishing in May. I have slots available for Year 12 students on Mondays 7pm-8pm,Tuesdays 8pm-9pm and Wednesdays 6pm-7pm and 7pm-8pm. Further slots will become available shortly. Again I provide model A level answers for Edexcel Syllabus A and B, AQA and OCR A level economics and access to the highly recommended Economics Today magazine for my A-level Economics Students, as well as mock tutor exams for A-level Economics and Business.

17/08/24 I now have 27 "A" Level Results in - 2 "A*"s, 9 "A"s, 13 "B"s, 2 "C" grades and 1 "D" grade. These are excellent results with more As and Bs compared to 2023. Clearly there are a range of factors at play though in Economics the further investment in model answers and further focus on tutor mock exams in economics and business have really helped students maximise their performance.

12/08/24 I am currently tutoring circa 25 Year 12 students and I have availability for another ten students. I helped a Year 12 economics student come 2nd in his year of 104 economists in his Year 12 summer exam and he is applying to Oxbridge. I now offer A star a level economics exemplar answers for Edexcel Syllabus A, AQA and OCR for my current and future students on an unlimited licence as part of my long term offering. These are released incrementally throughout the academic year with all info available at the start of the Easter holidays. In addition I offer digital access to the excellent A Level Economics Today magazine. The additional offerings are within my hourly rate.

21/08/23 - I now have 27 "A" level results in. I am delighted for my students and their families, having achieved 1 A*, 7As, 8Bs, 6Cs, 3Ds and 2E, with an average grade improvement (compared to mock exams or Year 12 exams) of 1.5 which is strong. For one of my students on an A who achieves an A there is no grade improvement though a great performance across two year`s work. For another student who was on a U in their mock exam to achieve a C grade that`s a three grade increase. Overall I am delighted! Some of these lower results are with students who were really struggling and on average there is a significant improvement. The more academically gifted students have performed strongly.

Experience: I am a qualified teacher and online tutor with 18 years classroom and online tutoring experience. Typically I tutor 35 online 1:1 students each year in A-level, (I)GCSE and IB Economics and Business and BTEC Business.

To tailor my support for my learners, I identify the tutoring gap. I explore aspirations, grade targets and their current progress. I explore where the student is at, their level of understanding, core skills and examination technique. In collaboration with the student and family, we refine the tutoring priorities which all continue to inform our tutoring plan.

I use learning strategies centred on active student engagement, including breaking down complex tasks and building in-depth arguments. I contextualise, relating economics/business to the student’s interests to bring the subject to life, for example the micro and macro economics around Covid. I facilitate the use of mind mapping to support argument development, for example the impact of lower interest rates on macro-economic performance reviewed by myself to improve longer answers and support time management in exams, developing the student’s own skills to think for themselves.

I faciliate the students` learning, work with the student and family and challenge as required to help the student achieve their goal.

I am an expert in A-level Economics, and as part of my hourly rate provide access to the highly respected A-level Economics Magazine "Economics Today" as well as model A-level A star answers for all three papers for Edexcel Syllabus A, AQA, OCR and Edexcel Syllabus B. In additional I have attended a Cambridge International marking course for A-level Economics and A-level Business. I have successfully passed my professional Banking exams, worked for Barclays Bank on their graduate management training programme and also studied Economics as part of my degree. I also tutor GCSE and IB Economics. I am a senior A-level Economics Examiner.

I am an expert in A-level Business, having successfully completed my Masters in Business Administration, worked for a global Information Communications Technology business in education and learning as well as running my own business nowadays. I am an A-level Business Examiner.

Our daughter decided to study Cambridge International Exam Board As and A2 Business Studies in one year while attending an International School in the Middle East. To support her school lessons, Dave tutored her online throughout the full year. Using his experience in business, he made the subject extremely interesting for her. He gave her confidence in her studies and provided her with excellent exam techniques coupled with invaluable examples. All of which enabled her to achieve her A*. (Note - the student received the highest grade in their subject in their country)
