Information about Cheryl
I provide individual private tuition in the comfort of your own home. For further details, please visit my website.
I am a qualified and experienced teacher, and hold a Masters degree in Translation.
I tailor each lesson to the tutee`s requirements and will endeavour to make lessons enjoyable.
I am happy to offer one-off / occasional refresher sessions to prevent students from falling behind in their studies over the holidays, or to prepare the ground for the new school year.
I also provide translation and proofreading services.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have 20+ years` experience of teaching across the 9-18 age range. I spent 7 of those years as Head of Languages in middle and high schools, 7 years in independent specialist education settings, and 2 years in a mainstream 11-16 specialist setting. In addition to private tutees, I currently tutor a wide range of students who are not attending school/college for various reasons, teaching everything from English and Maths to Life Skills, covering Functional Skills qualifications.
I have taught and tutored languages from KS2 up to KS5 (A Level). I also tutor English / Literacy from KS1 level (to learners of KS2 age and upwards, with SEND), as well as having taught the full KS3-KS4 curriculum (including English, Maths and Science to GCSE level) in specialist settings. I studied TESOL as part of my undergraduate degree, and have taught English as a foreign language to students across the 9-22 age range in France and to undergraduates at one of China`s top universities.

Feedback For Cheryl (-1)

Cheryl is a friendly and approachable tutor but unfortunately cannot say more than that as we did not continue with tutoring sessions.
This was because my daughter did not wish to continue further work on the subject.
Tutors Response :
Thank you for your review. It was a delight to tutor your daughter, if only for a few sessions, and I was disappointed to learn that she had decided to discontinue her college course, as I felt she had the potential to achieve. It`s a shame that she did not seek a tutor before embarking on the second year of her course, as those extra few weeks` head start might have given her the underlying knowledge and understanding necessary to boost her confidence. I wish your daughter every success in her other pursuits.
