I believe that true teaching extends beyond rote learning of facts and algorithms. In my lessons, I also try to provide my pupils with the deeper understanding and thought processes required to be able to construct these algorithms for themselves. I try to stimulate their interest in the subject, and constantly relate the topic to uses in the real world and career prospects in the subject area.
I take great pains to make my lessons as interactive and enjoyable as possible. I believe that it is vital to maintain the student`s interests if he or she is to learn with any degree of satisfaction. Above all, I believe that learning is an organic process, and that one only flourishes at it, if one is given the necessary time, care and dedication.
I have a CRB certificate from last year. I have applied for and expect a new certificate (for 2010/11) soon.

Experience: I am a fully qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and have experience teaching 11 to 16 year olds in inner city London schools. In addition to this, I have taught extensively to A-Level and undergraduate students. The year 9 classes I taught achieved on average nearly a full two grades higher in their SATs than they would have been expected to achieve, given the results of their year 6 SATs. (The jargon is that I achieved a value-add score of +1.8)
I set up a Maths club in one of the schools I taught at. This was entirely voluntary, but very well-attended.
