Information about Hannah
I am a patient, friendly and enthusiastic tutor. I come from an academic background (Molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics) rather than teaching and as such, have a thorough and extensive knowledge of the subjects I tutor in. I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm with others and I`m also good at explaining some of the more complex elements of biology and chemistry.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy cooking, swimming, playing tennis, walking my dog and watching Hull City!
Availability: I AM CURRENTLY FULLY BOOKED FOR THIS ACADEMIC YEAR, BUT TAKING BOOKINGS FOR SUMMER 2022 ONWARDS.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have been a full-time Private Tutor for 15 years, mainly in Biology at A-level, but also GCSE Biology and Chemistry. I am more than happy to accept students of all abilities and endeavour to assist tutees in reaching their full potential, whether they need an A* for Oxbridge/Medicine/Dentistry/Veterinary courses or just need a boost in confidence to reach their target grade.
My approach varies depending on the student as all have different needs and learning styles. For GCSE/A-level tuition, I usually concentrate on exam practice, with in-depth topic study for any problematic subjects. I also use multimedia aids to help students visualise biological/chemical processes where appropriate and I have created powerpoint files covering almost all A-level and GCSE Biology and Chemistry topics. I try to keep the sessions as relaxed and enjoyable as possible. I usually send students home with extra exam practice questions and will always be happy to mark these in my own time. I am also more than happy to assist with essay practice for A-level Biology and have a few different resources and tactics to use. I can also assist with the Maths skills essential for Biology and Chemistry.
Feedback For Hannah (4)
Great tutor, i went from an E grade at the beginning of year 12 to a B in my AS Biology exam, currently on track to get a B in my A level exam also.
We are delighted with the preparation, effort and time that Dr Hannah has put into my son to ensure he not only gets very good grades but also that he is able to enjoy the subjects of Chemistry and Biology. We definitely will continue to use Dr Hannah and have no hesitation in recommending her
I had Hannah for the second year of A Level Biology for an hour every other week from December to June. Hannah was a very good tutor, not only teaching me parts of the subject I didn`t understand but also making me more enthusiastic about the subject. Something which my biology tutor at A Level did not do. She helped prepare me for an interview at Oxford for Biochemistry, in which I did get an offer. Hannah would also email me in advance before each lesson to double check/organise what I wanted to go through. I felt thoroughly prepared for my exams and got an A* in Biology and was succesful in achieving my offer from Oxford. I am very grateful for Hannah`s teaching.
