Information about Andrew
I`m a History and Politics teacher, have been since 2002, and have taught a variety of different modules and exam boards. My main areas of specialism are from 1789 to the present day but I have experience of teaching the early modern and medieval eras. I have delivered AS and/or A2 courses on numerous topics including Germany (1919-1945), Italy (unification), Britain (1832-1919), the Tudor era (1485-1603) and Russia (1815-1964). I have experience of OCR, AQA and Edexcel at GCSE and A Level, and Edexcel at IGCSE. Topics covered at KS4 level include Britain 1900-1918, International Relations (League of Nations, appeasement, and so on) 1919-39, Germany 1918-1945, America 1919-1941, Russia 1900-1924, Medicine 1848-1948, Norman England, and Cold War 1943-1991. For Politics I`ve taught Global Politics, the Government and the Politics modules, and all ideologies - but specialise in Liberalism and Anarchism.
My approach is to focus both on content and style of answer, using rubrics and past papers as an integral part of developing understanding. I have developed schemes of work and resource packs from scratch at both GCSE and GCE.
Availability: I am able to tutor at weekends, or on most evenings after school. I am not available on Saturday or Sunday evenings in most circumstances, although it may occasionally be possible to schedule something with an existing client. I have no problem with tutoring during holidays as long as the times are mutually convenient.
Willing to travel: 12 miles
Experience: I have twenty years of experience teaching History at all secondary levels, including eleven as Head of Department and eight as a member of Senior Management. I review and develop resources for the subject via online projects. I am currently a member of the Senior Leadership Team at one of Surrey`s leading independent schools.
I have carried out private tuition since 2003.

Has been such a great help .
My son is very happy with his sessions with Andrew. He says that he definitely has a greater understanding of A level politics now and is glad we started him with a tutor. Would recommend.
