Information about Ann
I am a qualified Secondary Modern Foreign Languages teacher and am passionate about languages. I currently teach French to adult learners, GCSE and A level students as well as to primary school age children. I believe that languages are important for personal, academic and professional development, and that anyone can progress when the teaching is tailored to their needs. This involves removing the stress, having fun and accepting that making errors is part of the language-learning process. I previously worked as a Midwife, including 6 years in Switzerland and Germany, where I developed my French and German ability, making many, many errors along the way! I believe that memory techniques are helpful to all language learners so use various methods to enhance memorisation ("tricks", games, songs, humour). I learnt Spanish as an adult and have taught French, German and Spanish at Primary and Secondary level.
I am currently learning Irish which reminds me of the challenges of being a learner and the importance of enjoyment in language learning.
