Information about Alex

Vivacious Visual Arts Educator, with over 20 years tutoring experience.

Bespoke classes, workshops, study programs for individuals and or groups.

My aim is to listen, nurture, inspire be fresh, provide guidance where necessary and aid each student to reach their full potential.

Provide a supportive environment for students to experiment with a range of creative mediums and find different ways to look within the visual arts.

Introduce students to potentially new materials, skills and a variety of techniques. Result - each individual acquires a sense of worth by finding activities, in which they can succeed, no matter what level of ability. Students will grow with self-confidence, ability, self-esteem and motivation is strengthened.

I provide a positive framework for students to learn how to harness their responses and discoveries and learn how to communicate their narratives visually and effectively.

I foster the importance of how and why students can collect, evaluate and re-evaluate their own individual thoughts and challenge their current artistic practice, whatever stage.

Skills include painting, drawing, photography, installation and digital media (inclusive of PhotoShop, Illustrator, Quark Xpress, In Design).

As a practising artist, I have first hand, up-to-date knowledge and awareness of the bigger picture within the arts.

Ideas and concepts are at the forefront of my own studio practice and although I am happily labelled, a painter I feel no need to categorise myself. My work is constantly developing using a diverse spectrum of methods and tools. This outlook feeds into my tutoring practice.

Additional knowledge of Art History, contemporary theory, curating solo and group art exhibitions and site-specific projects. In addition, over 20 years freelance graphic design.

I offer coursework support and advice for portfolio preparation.

Periodically DBS checked.

References on hand.

Fees - £36-45 per hour but negotiable dependant upon the need of the project, i.e. half and or full day rates.

5/5 Rating

Alex is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She is punctual and well organised, and is good at keeping in touch if arrangements change. She invoices monthly, which keeps things simple. I`d definitely recommend her to someone looking for an arts tutor.

Alex is obviously very enthusiastic about her subject. I have only had one lesson so far but it was very instructive and helped me enormously.
