My name is Phil. I have been a musician and teacher for many years and have taught.... hundreds of people to play, sing and enjoy music. My main focus is on enjoyment and I am very student led: material will always be aimed at helping the student and we can always work on songs that the students want to work on!
Whilst not teaching, I am spending time with my family, playing music, training our dog, making some kind of construction, climbing or walking! I like a wide variety of things, but music has always been a big part of my life. I love hearing new music, listening to song I used to listen to, singing in the car and playing with friends.

Availability: I have some availability during the day and evenings. I work in schools and music centres (currently online) and have largely a fixed timetable. Please contact me with your needs and we can go from there.

Experience: I have been a private guitar tutor since leaving college.... more than 15 years ago! Since then, I have done all manner of teaching and playing jobs from music composition for teenagers to performing songs from sheets in cafes, from ukulele with 15 7 year olds to last minute sessioning a rock musical. However it comes, I have always done it, but alongside all of this, I have taught 1-1 guitar, bass, ukulele, drums and keyboards in peoples houses and my own. I have had some students from primary school right up until leaving for university!
During this time I have learned a lot. I’m very adaptable, friendly and versatile. I have played in many, many genres; have experience of learning songs quickly for last minute sessions; have experience with listening to songs and being able to break it into a series of different exercises for any level; I have worked with adults and children of all ages and abilities! I look forward to meeting some more!
