I have a First Class Degree in English Literature from UCL, and an MPhil in American Literature from Cambridge University. I specialise in tutoring English from 11+ up to degree level, and History at GCSE and A-Level. My approach is to foster an awareness of exam board criteria, since I believe this is the way to score the very highest marks. However, I believe that instilling a genuine excitement for the subject at hand is also important – and where possible, I always seek to take my student beyond the syllabus, and attempt to unearth topics that will stoke their curiosity.

I was awarded four A grades at A Level (this was before the introduction of the A*), and scored full marks – or very near full marks – in most modules. At GCSE, I was awarded 9A*s.

I am also a published novelist.
