Teaching is an activity that I am extremely enthusiastic about and I have always passionately enjoyed. I am currently teaching at a top independent secondary school in Kent, and I am the programme lead for one of the new IB Higher Level Mathematics courses, as well as the IB Mathematics Extension programme. I feel that my strengths as a teacher and tutor are always being friendly and approachable, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills, and being very patient. I also pride myself on caring about my students as people first and foremost, and an important part of my teaching style is ensuring that students always feel that they are learning in a safe and supportive environment, where questions can be asked freely and confidently without judgement, and where mistakes are simply accepted as a natural part of the learning process.

In terms of my academic background, I have a 1st Class MSci (Hons) Physics degree from Imperial College London, an MSc (Hons) Mathematics degree (with Merit) from the Open University, and a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Imperial College London. I also have a PGCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (with Distinction) from the University of Liverpool.

Availability: I still have some online tutoring availability for summer 2020 and I can be extremely flexible during weekdays and weekends around the times of my existing students. From September 2020 onwards, I will be available during evenings and weekends during term time, plus weekdays during school holidays. I am available to teach GCSE, A-Level and IB Mathematics (both Analysis and Approaches, and Applications and Interpretation at Higher Level and Standard Level).

Experience: I have gained over 20 years’ teaching experience in Higher Education (to undergraduates and postgraduates) and Secondary Education, as well as private tutoring in GCSE, A-Level and IB Mathematics. I have also been an A-Level Examiner for Edexcel and led the establishment of a successful tutoring company in London. I hold an up-to-date Enhanced DBS Certificate and references are available on request.
