Hi. My name is Paul and I am a fully qualified primary school teacher who has 30 years experience teaching in primary schools mainly in West Sussex. I have taught from Year 2 right through to Year 6 where I spent the last 3 years of my time in schools supporting and helping children through their SATs and the transition to high school. This was an immense source of pride and my students would often return to visit the following year. This was due to the fostering of a learning environment that was child centred and one that believed in strong academic and behavioural boundaries. Since leaving the classroom I have continued my love of teaching through tutoring. I was a Maths subject leader so would describe this as my strength but I am also well qualified to teach Reading plus Spelling and Grammar. Again I enjoy watching my students progress and believe strongly in also forging a positive relationship with the parents. I understand that there are often obstacles that prevent a student from reaching their full potential and I believe tutoring offers that chance to enable them to become independent learners who show more confidence and resilience when faced with challenges. I prefer coming to student’s homes as I strongly believe in developing a positive can do experience. Saying that, I am not adverse to working with students online. I plan my lessons meticulously using nationally recognised resources but am always willing to adapt based on the student’ needs.

Experience: 30 years teaching experience in primary schools ranging from Year 2 up to Year 6. Last 3 years spent in Year 6 so focus was on SATs and preparing students for high school. I have been tutoring consistently since 2019.
