Information about Alexandra
`Putting the Pieces Together`
I have been a primary teacher for 3 years, and am truly passionate about children`s learning. I am the English Subject Leader for the school, co-ordinating all reading, writing, spelling and grammar. I am also I am specialised in Religious Education and therefore co-ordinate RE.
I believe the opportunity for children to fulfil and go beyond their individual potential is a right that all children should be given. I support my energetic teaching with a range of cross-curricular and inclusion strategies such as the use of technology and sensory elements which provide stimulating and vibrant lessons, where pupils take an active role in their learning, which aspires them to do well and to achieve. I believe it is important to create a caring ethos, by building respectful and trusting relationships, and by showing the high learning expectations I have of my pupils to encourage them to have high expectations of themselves and a self-belief that they can achieve.
My teaching has an active, question filled space, where children demonstrate positive behaviour from positive praise and clear high expectations. It is a place where they can take ownership for their learning so their enquiring minds can wonder and be challenged. Through discovery of first-hand experiences, testing, trying and experimenting effective learning takes place. Foundations are built from feelings of respect, trust, honesty and friendship, which remove barriers to learning and support the pupils journeys.
My child first pedagogy is perfect for tutor sessions. I am available for small group sessions, home visits as well able to tutor at my home.
All pupils will receive a feedback/report form after the end of every session. This will identify the session outcomes and highlight further areas for development. This will be emailed within 24 hours of the session.
Availability: 4.00pm - 6.30pm Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
8.30 - 6.30 Saturday.
8.30 - 4.30 Sunday.
During school holidays I am also available on request.
Willing to travel: 12 miles
Experience: Completed a 4 year teacher training degree at the University of Winchester. I gained an 2:1 BA Hons Primary Education degree, specialising in Religious Education. Since I have taught full time for the last 3 years in years 2-4.
I am currently teaching full time, a mixed year 2 and 3 class. I co-ordinate both Religious Education and English (reading, writing, spelling and grammar). This includes supporting teachers with the new National Curriculum, observing teachers and giving feedback, assessing pupils and moderating teachers assessments to ensure all pupils needs are met. Therefore, I have a wealth of knowledge and teaching expertise regarding reading, writing, spelling and grammar, especially with the new National Curriculum and the new assessment system. I run parent workshops informing them of their child`s academic needs, changes in the curriculum and tips and hints for success.
I have a wealth of knowledge also regarding SEN pupils, I have supported several pupils with ASD and ADHA, also for the last three years specifically supporting pupils with a statement and therefore a 1:1 support assistant. I have also had additional training regarding `working memory` and the importance this has for pupils learning.
I am now the Read, Write Inc leader at my school. This is a systemic programme, which is fast paced and has fantastic results. I therefore have a great deal of knowledge regarding early teaching of reading, writing and spelling. I now apply this way of teaching to all my teaching of reading, writing and spelling.
