Information about Morgan

My goal is to make you confident and capable, so that you can approach difficult Maths and Physics problems in an unfamiliar context. I will do this by:

1. Regularly assessing your strengths and weaknesses, and tracking these over time,
2. Focusing on depth of understanding rather than rote-learned rules or procedures,
3. Explicitly teaching you how to approach really challenging problems,
4. Giving you clear feedback.

Before our first session you will complete an assessment so that I can set you targets for improvement, which we will re-assess on a monthly basis.
Each session, we will have a short recap of key concepts and skills. This spaced retrieval promotes long term memory so that learning sticks. We will then address one of your targets by going back to basics, so that you are secure in your understanding, and finish with some exam style problems.
I will expect you to complete homework to drill your key skills if necessary.

Availability: I am available every weekday after 1pm, and most mornings.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I am a fully qualified teacher with a PGCE, and completed my training with the competitive Teach First program. This means that I have significant experience using assessment to inform the planning and delivery of engaging lessons, and that I have a detailed understanding of the current curriculum and how this will be examined. I have been a private tutor since 2018, and have enjoyed tutoring several GSCE and A level Maths and Physics students in person and online. All of my students have progressed by at least two grades. I have also taught computer programming to undergraduate level students at University for two years.

My subject knowledge is supported by my strong background in Engineering. I have a MRes degree in Medical Imaging, and am currently working on an exciting PhD project at UCL, where I am developing new breast imaging methods using ultrasound.
