Experience: Observation School Experience 1 & 2:
I undertook my first primary school placement at Tairgwaith Primary School in my first year of my degree. My first secondary experience I attended Ysgol Dyffryn Aman. Both placements were the duration of 5 days. These were both observational placements to understand the essential key features of a teacher’s role within the professionalism.

Block School Experience 1:
The second year of my degree I completed my first block school experience of seven weeks at West Monmouth Comprehensive in Pontypool. As a student teacher I was able to experience delivering professional development subjects taught included Food Technology, Resistant Materials, Product Design and Computer Aided Design. I had the opportunity to discover different classroom management strategies to help enhance myself as a teacher, along with building my confidence up being new to the professionalism.

Block School Experience 2:
I attended my final block school experience of 15 weeks previously at St Julian’s School in Newport. I taught a variety of subjects at KS3 and KS4, which included Product Design, Resistant Materials, Electronics, Food Technology and Textiles that allowed me to enhance my subject knowledge. I believe I have gained many skills that help demonstrate my ability to undertake duties of a teacher of Design and Technology. I have gained experience in teaching 2D Design and CAD software within Product Design KS4. I have been able to differentiate for learners to ensure a challenge for a range of abilities by incorporating a wide range of assessment strategies including literacy and numeracy. Along with teaching in Design and Technology, I have had the experience in teaching PSE classes during form tutorial times, which allowed me to widen my knowledge in areas I hadn’t taught previously. During the placement Estyn were inspecting the school, which gave me a higher understanding of the standard expected of organistaion and teaching at the crucial time. I was able to see a lot more experiences due to the various teaching principles and events, which allowed me to have a clear understanding of how to problem solve and overcome circumstances.
