Information about Joshua
Having graduated from University of Bristol with a degree in Biomedical Science, I spent two years working for the NHS. My passion and enthusiasm for Science and Maths is coupled with my 8+ years tutoring Maths and Science from 7+ up to and including GCSE. Following university, I regularly research and write content on specific scientific topics to augment my subject knowledge and I bring this academic rigour to his lessons. I have an incredibly understanding and patient mindset, having spent eight months as a teaching assistant at a school for children with autism and learning difficulties. I continue to tutor students of all abilities while studying a Psychodynamic Therapy degree, harnessing useful interpersonal skills that I bring to each lesson.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: Privately tutoring since the age of 15 in Maths and all Sciences, I found that I had a passion for learning and garnering an understanding of topics and then having the opportunity, skills and ability to educate others. Between 2014-2022 I tutored students upwards of Y4 to GCSE, many of whom achieved exemplary results (references available upon request). In my final academic year, I spent eight months as a teaching assistant at The Swiss Cottage School Development & Research Centre, a school for children with autism and learning difficulties. We setup weekly classrooms and lesson plans, helped staff with overstimulated students and organised lunchtime activities. I developed a strong sense of self and patience, effective communication, problem solving and creativity which have been both applied and invaluable throughout my life to date. That year I also spent two weeks in Romania, via the charity Hands of Hope at a school for the poor and underprivileged, arranging classes in art, science and sports. It was a supremely humbling experience and one that taught me a great deal about myself and the wider world.
