Information about Loren
I am an experienced primary school teacher currently teaching in an Outstanding primary school in Leeds and I have been tutoring for two years in addition to my working role. I have found tutoring a rewarding experience and I have supported children to reach the expected standard and beyond by the end of the school year. This has included supporting children for SATs tests and entrance exams.
I am a friendly and engaging person, prepared to think outside the box and make learning an enjoyable and durable experience. I have extensive experience of planning and delivering lessons that engage and challenge children and allow them to deepen their understanding of a range of subjects. I have extensive subject knowledge across key stage two, and I am knowledgable in the end of year expectations for a variety of year groups. I successfully use assessment to inform both progress and next steps in learning and can confidently identify at what level a child is working and what interventions will enable them to progress towards or past the expected standard for their age and stage.
I understand that family life can be busy and unpredictable and with this is mind I am flexible and adaptable and do not charge a cancellation fee.
I have completed a postgraduate teaching degree at Leeds University and was graded outstanding. Prior to this, I worked for the local authority supporting children both at home and in school following obtaining a 2:1 undergraduate degree in Primary Education Studies.
Availability: Evenings and weekends.
I am currently committed to a long term client on a Monday evening 4-6pm.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: My tutoring experience so far has given me the opportunity to work with a range of young people with a range of personal an academic goals.
My previous working role before starting a PGCE was within Children`s services, working with families who were considered the most deprived in the area with a range of complex issues. This included parenting and non-engagement with education. I worked intensively with children with additional needs such as Autism and ADHD and also with children with a reluctance to engage with education for a range of reasons.
I have also worked as an Early Intervention Practitioner, assisting families with learning through play, weaning, healthy eating, boundaries, routines and positive parenting.
I have a 2:1 undergraduate degree in Primary Education Studies, and have almost completed a School Direct PGCE in Primary Teaching with QTS. Studying the School Direct route means that I have spent the majority of the course working within a school teaching full time.
