Information about Kristopher
My name is Kris and I have over 10 years of teaching experience. I am currently teaching a range of A-Level mathematics courses at a sixth form, where there is a greater focus on a students ability to problem solve. I have always had a passion for imparting knowledge and look forward to helping as many students as I can to achieve their very best.
My approach to tutoring is both personalised and rigorous. I understand that different students will have different needs, so will adapt my teaching style to the individual. Once a student has grasped the maths, I strongly believe in the idea that you need to continuously practice a skill in order to be able to recall it and apply it in the exam. With that in mind I do have high expectations for students of mine to maintain a certain level of independent study, and any work I set outside of tutorials is to achieve a higher level of retention. This will ultimately enable them to be more confident in their own ability and reduce some of the stresses of exams.
Availability: I currently have weekly slots available for this academic year (22-23) in the evenings and on the weekends. Please feel free to contact me with your availability.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: After graduating from university with a masters degree in mathematics, I immediately began my journey into the teaching profession via the Graduate Teacher Programme, which I completed in early 2014. During my training and several years after achieving QTS, I taught KS3, GCSE and A-Level mathematics at a local secondary school for students aged 11-19. For the past six years I have moved on to teaching A-Level mathematics to post-16 at a growing sixth form.
My teaching experience has predominantly been in a school based environment, however over the past five years I have done private tuition with students of a wide age range and with various mathematical ability.
