Information about Taran
I am a Mathematics graduate, having studied at the University of Warwick.
I am available to tutor in Mathematics and the Sciences at all levels (from Key Stage 1 up until A-Level) and I am available to tutor in English up until GCSE Level. I also provide tutoring for 11+ and entrance exams of all types.
I completed GCSE Mathematics a year early at Tiffin School, achieving an A* grade. In addition I completed Mathematics and Further Mathematics â the latter in my final single year of Sixth Form. This involved self-teaching 3 complete modules over the summer of 2011, and the average across these 3 modules was over 98%. I also achieved grade A in A-Level Biology.
As well as passing my A-Levels, I had to pass STEP papers required for entry to the top Universities for Mathematics being Cambridge, Warwick and Oxford.
Alongside my studies, I am a strong believer in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and I feel this is a key component contributing to academic success and happiness. Furthermore, having achieved grade 5 at guitar, music is another great way to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
From my experience, I know that every student is different and each is suited to their own individual way of learning. Therefore, my approach is to make the student feel as comfortable as possible and being seen as a mentor as well as teacher.
This is why I try to make the tutoring as interactive as possible as I am aware that some traditional methods are not the most effective and it is difficult for the student to absorb the information presented.
In addition, it is important to keep the parent/guardian updated with the studentâs progress and recommend any lifestyle changes that can be made to help the student achieve that little bit extra and their full potential.
Availability: I am available weekday evenings and on the weekend.f
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have tutored and prepared students for their GCSEs for all of the exam boards, helping them to achieve and exceed expectations. I have also helped with entrance exams, and having passed them to get into Tiffin School, I have a very good understanding of what is required to be successful in them.
For the past 3 years I have also volunteered at a Summer Camp in my local community, working with children from the ages of 5-14. This has allowed me to gain experience working with children with varying levels of ability.
