Information about Katie
Hi there, I`m a fully qualified experienced teacher of English Language and English Literature along with being a teacher of Media Studies at A level. I currently hold the position of KS4 Coordinator of English at my current school. Previously, I have undertaken the role of KS3 Coordinator of English so I`m highly experienced in both KS3 and KS4.
I am a creative and enthusiastic teacher who consistently receives outstanding feedback on my day to day lessons. I pride myself on making my lessons fun and engaging for reluctant learners and teaching exam strategies to help students reach their potential in all of the subjects which I teach. I have proven I can raise the standards of progress and attainment in all of the exam classes which I have taught at GCSE and A Level.
In all of my sessions, I ensure I build a good relationship with my learners to help build their confidence in the subject along with building their knowledge. All my sessions are designed to meet the requirements of the new national curriculum specifications. I can offer sessions for KS3 students who need extra support with English skills and sessions for GCSE students who need support with the accuracy of their writing, exam strategies, borderline grade 4/5, responding to a Literature question etc. I can also offer A Level Media Studies tuition sessions.
Please don`t hesitate to contact me should you have any further questions.
Availability: Depending on your location I can be available from 4:30pm- 9pm on weekdays.
I could also be available on Saturday/ Sunday mornings.
I will also be available for `Exam booster sessions` during April/May half terms 2019.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: September 2018
I am in my 5th year of teaching English Language and Literature at an outstanding secondary school in Chester. I have also taught Media Studies at GCSE and A Level for 4 years.
2 years experience undertaking the role of KS3 Coordinator of English specialising in the transition from Year 6 to Year 7 and the transition from Year 9 into GCSE.
I will now be taking over the role of KS4 Coordinator of English specialising in raising the progress and attainment of those students at GCSE across Years 10 and 11.
I have previously tutored GCSE resit groups with a 100% resit pass rate.
I teach to the AQA specification but can tailor my sessions to the needs of the learner.
I also have qualifications in `Understanding Autism` and `Children and Young People`s Mental Health.`
