I have 20 years experience in private tuition.

I have 3 children of my own who have all been through first,middle and upper schools in the local area. As a supply teacher I have a number of teacher contacts within my local schools which means that if the parent wishes, I would be happy to liaise with their child`s teacher.
I currently work as a supply teacher and have had several short term contracts over the last few years.
I have lived in Wimborne since 1990 and have been involved with the schools that my children attended as both a parent helper and governor.

Availability: Monday-Friday: During the school day, after school, evenings.
Saturday mornings.

Experience: I am an experienced teacher with a total of 30 years of teaching either in schools or as a private tutor.
I have had recent classroom experience in Dorset, Poole and Bournemouth Primary and Middle schools as well as experience of a wide age range over my teaching career.
I have taught most Primary subjects but have particular expertise in Maths and English.
I have taught children with S.E.N. within mainstream schools.
I tutor pupils either in my home or theirs depending on what suits both parties. Lessons are usually one hour long and I use a variety of approaches and resources to maintain the child`s concentration and interest. From the first lesson I am usually able to judge whether the child needs lots of changes of activity or very few. The first few sessions are spent building up a profile of the child`s strengths and weaknesses and ways of working. I am then able to specifically target the help they need which enables them to build confidence in the subject.
At the end of each lesson I allow 5 minutes to talk to a parent about the child`s learning needs and what they have done that session.
If the parent wishes, I can suggest work to be done at home to consolidate the learning.
