Hello! I`m an advanced flautist and saxophonist specialising in classical and jazz.

My teaching style is personable, creative and effective and I tailor each lesson to the individual, whether that be working towards exams, performances or playing for pleasure. In my experience, students respond well to learning through practical demonstration, rather than theoretical explanation alone. Music is about the sound, after all, so I believe this is really important.

I also encourage my students to listen to recordings of other musicians playing the music they are learning. Not only does this develop their listening skills, but it gives them something to aim towards and hopefully inspires their practice too!

Experience: I`m an experienced performer, having been guest soloist with Sheffield University Symphony Orchestra and principal flute and alto saxophone in multiple classical, jazz and show music ensembles. Whilst studying Music at The University of Sheffield, I ran a junior school flute choir and helped the children involved to develop their technique and performance skills. Since graduating in 2019, I have been teaching both adults and children at a music school in Burscough, Lancashire.
