Information about Kathryn
I am a qualified A Level Chemistry and Biology teacher based in Wotton under Edge. I hold a Biomedical Sciences degree, have eight years teaching experience, four years experience marking A Level Chemistry papers and two years experience as a private tutor. My teaching experience has crossed many types of educational settings a UK state school (KLB school), a private international school in Abu Dhabi (Brighton College) and a UK sixth form college (St. Brendans).
The Chemistry A Level exam boards I work with are Edexcel, OCR and AQA Chemistry, and OCR Biology
I absolutely love tutoring, and now work only part time at a sixth form college so that I can spend more time tutoring and exam marking. The exam marking enables me to help students develop exam technique from an examiners perspective. I have recently purchased a flat of my own in Wotton with a room that is now dedicated to tutoring and full of teaching resources.
My rates start at £35 per hour but are subject to variation based upon distance traveled when necessary (although I recommend that students come to me as I have the dedicated space to work in with all the relevant materials), or special arrangements such as paired tutoring.
If I am fully booked but if you would like to be added to a waiting list or reserve a slot for the 2018/2019 academic year then let me know. I can be booked for more sessions during half terms and school holidays.
Availability: Currently fully booked for this academic year
Willing to travel: 5 miles

For the past 4 years I have been employed as an examiner by Pearson Edexcel to mark A Level Chemistry papers

Feedback For Kathryn (4)
Katy has been just what my daughter (A level Chemistry) has needed. She enjoys the sessions and has found them invaluable. Katy tried very hard to accommodate us in to her busy schedule too.
Katy is tutoring Jake on a long term basis to improve his understanding of GCSE General Science in the lead up to his exams in 2018.
Katy is energetic, enthusiastic and obviously very knowledgeable in the subject.
She has a very positive manner and explains the subject matter clearly and thoroughly.
After just a few sessions, Jake is noticeably more focused and is clearly taking inspiration from the whole experience.
I am certain that Katy`s influence will play a big part in Jake`s forthcoming Science exam results and in his confidence going forward.
We approached Kathryn less than two months before A levels to help my son prepare for his Chemistry exams.
She kindly fitted him in to her busy schedule and has worked flexibly around our home arrangements and my son`s requests for help switching from biology to chemistry and back again as necessary. We`ve really appreciated her support as work has been hectic for us as parents and we wanted to feel we`d offered some more support to our son whose anticipated grades were not as good as he needed for the university course he wished to do. His approach to private study was also disorganised and unenthusiastic.
I am very happy to recommend Kathryn for Biology and Chemistry A level support - she`s an experienced and enthusiastic teacher and examination marker, and she was prepared to travel to our home at the weekend to tutor. She is very approachable and Im sure younger students would find her a great tutor too.
She is very organised and punctual and happy to give feedback to student and parents. I think we should have approached Kathryn earlier in the school year to maximise her ability to influence my son`s approach to his studies. He really has benefitted very much from one to one tuition not only through direct subject knowledge teaching, it also seems to have improved his whole approach to private study between tutorials . As hes gained confidence he has become less laid back and much more focussed on testing himself with past papers.
Katy has been a real help to my son in preparing for A level biology. She`s enthusiastic, knows her material, and is very supportive.
