Information about Peter

I am a friendly, approachable, and engaged tutor! I have always loved helping others not only to understand a topic, but to delight in it! My professional career as an interim executive has been spent, in addition to language instruction, on advising employees on new and better ways of approaching their work environment.

Tutored a teenager (15-16) who had Visual Stress, similar to dyslexia, but differs in that text is distorted by movement of whole texts, which in addition to reading challenges causes headaches and sore eyes. These students are Auditory Learners, who learn by hearing and listening, and therefore lessons need to be spoken.

Professionally I have worked as an interim executive in several industries, including mental health hospitals, special education schools and nursing homes, after an extended international career with IBM in USA, Asia, and Europe.

I am a published author. My first novel (in a series) in historical fiction (under the pen name of Peter Angus) was published last year.

Availability: I am available for tutoring as well as editing/proof reading work on weekdays and weekends.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I offer 1:1 (both in-person and virtual, i.e., Zoom) tutoring in GCSE and A-level in History, English and Geography and in a wide range of other topics including ESL (English as a Second Language), international affairs and in all areas of essay writing (creative, dissertation, personal statements, and school assignments).

A students most common challenge in this area is reading and organising the assignment, and I have a simple way to teach how to structure their thoughts about a text or idea in a logical, fluent, and confident way so they can become a confident, successful writer. I help them write with fluency and accuracy while building their vocabulary.

I will provide regular updates on overall progress to students and parents, providing detailed and honest feedback.

My favourite subject is history - I am most passionate about it and enjoy teaching and enthusing students, as I explain the subject as a story narritive.
