Information about Sarah
Hi! I am a friendly and enthusiastic tutor offering French or English Literature up to A-level, and/or English as a Second Language. I have A*s in English Literature, French and History at A-Level, and a first class degree in English and French from Magdalen College, Oxford. I have always loved language and literature, and nothing excites me more than sharing it! Having had to switch to doing Finals online last term, I really feel for anyone who has had their education disrupted by the pandemic, and I would like to do my best to help in whatever way I can.
Availability: I am highly flexible in terms of timings: weekdays, weekends and evenings are all currently available.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I spent my year abroad as an English language assistant in Poitiers, where I taught students aged 11-15 in a collège, and students aged 16-23 in a lycée professionnelle for culinary education. This gave me a wide range of experience, from co-leading classes of 11-year-olds just starting to learn English to one-to-one tutoring with 17-year-olds preparing presentations for their baccalauréat. I volunteered for a year teaching a French 9-year-old with the Oxford-based charity Jacari, and I also have ESL teaching experience with The Friendship Centre, an adult education project in my community. In addition to this, I also have experience mentoring GCSE French, and doing revision coaching for GCSE English. You will find me a patient and approachable tutor, willing to adjust to any age, learning style, or ability.
