Information about Joe

I`m outgoing, enthusiastic and have plenty of experience tutoring school-aged students, as well as leading theatre workshops with international students aged 11-21.

I have just completed an MPhil in Modern British History at the University of Cambridge, where I also graduated with a First Class Honours in History (BA Hons).

I would make an ideal History tutor, up to degree level. Periods I have studied include nineteenth century British political and gender history (Pitt, Peel, Gladstone and Disraeli, etc.), twentieth century social history (interwar Britain, postwar race relations, Thatcher, etc), late medieval European history (c. 1250-1500), Russian history c. 1924- 1990, the Cold War, Weimar and Nazi Germany.

I can provide excellent tutoring for English Literature and Language up to A Level, as well as provide advice and interview practice for Oxbridge applications, and university admissions more generally (personal statements etc).

Availability: Not available 9-6 Mondays-Fridays.
Available weekday evenings and weekends.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: Whether as an undergraduate and postgraduate, or through Oxbridge mentoring programmes, I have developed opportunities to gain experience in one-to-one and group tutoring, and admissions mentoring.

In September 2019, I another former student conducted workshops on Oxbridge admissions and mock interviews to remedy the lack of input from former Oxbridge alumni in my secondary school’s Oxbridge mentoring programme. These workshops have since become permanent features of the school`s Oxbridge programme.

In September 2018, I co-lead acting and comedy workshops with students aged 11-21 in schools and universities across China, Japan, and South Korea. On the same tour, I gave practice interviews for sixth form students applying to study History at Oxford and Cambridge.

I have also enjoyed working and volunteering with school-age and undergraduate students through various university schemes. For the Girton College Economics Summer Programme in July 2018, I helped coordinate a month-long itinerary of events for international students, and assisted with the students` pastoral care.

As a Girton college student ambassador in 2017-2018, I gave university and college tours to students from UK schools with low Oxbridge applications.
