Ex Head of English: Y6 to A level

I am a retired Senior Teacher and ex-Head of English, having recently moved with my wife into the Tunbridge Wells area. Some previous teaching posts have included working at St.Olave`s Grammar School, Orpington, on six long-term supply bases, (and where I still referee football matches) and various secondary schools in the South East London and Kent areas. My teaching and tutoring has ranged from Year 6 (Secondary Entrance Examinations) to GCSE and `A` Level Language and Literature. I am a published author of four books, including one poetry anthology, work part-time as a football scout and have been a drama director within a Bromley Church of England church.
I would be happy to tutor on-line, at a student`s home or at my own abode. In terms of my approach to tutoring I believe that a route to improvement and ultimate success is through confidence-building, as well as making learning enjoyable. It is my experience that within the current school system too often teachers appear not to have the time to empathise with individual students or to give specific guidelines as to how progress can be made. This, I believe, is the main advantage of one-to-one private tuition.

Availability: Most days Mondays to Saturdays at any convenient time.
