I would like to get to know my students to understand their strengths and weaknesses.
Having struggled with dyslexia as a child, I understand how difficult study can be. I have a wide selection of methods for learning and study skills which I can teach.
I use a wide variety of teaching styles in my lessons and keep them fully multi-sensory where possible. I like to challenge my more able students to think and figure things out for themselves and to guide them through the difficult bits.

Subjects
I am a specialist dyslexia tutor, having passed a course with the Open University. Specialist dyslexia and dyscalculia lessons are charged at a higher rate than normal due to the additional resources I need to use and the additional time I need to prepare for the lessons. If your child comes to me for numeracy or maths and they have dyscalculia and it requires additional resources and preparation I will need to consider how much I charge for the lesson with you.

Currently I only have one slot for SPLD Literacy and numeracy. I have some slots available during the school day for those who home school or are available during that time for other reasons.

I am available for work in schools during the day for piece work or for longer contracts and training days as well as some evening tutoring either as a one off or as a long contract, or anything in between.
I am available for dyslexia assessments from December 2014 during the school day, either at my home or I can travel to some of the schools locally if you arrange it with them.
I am available during the day for dyslexia screening tests and for writing a suggested scheme of work for parents to carry out at home.
I am available for hand writing assessments during the school day.

Experience: I have taught Private sector for 10 years and state sector for 10 years. I have privately tutored for most of my teaching career. I have about 20 years of private tutoring experience and I have a lot of experience in teaching evening classes to teens and adults.

I have been a qualified specialist teacher of dycalculia and dyslexia for several years and have had much experience private tutoring students with special educational needs at all levels up to adult.

I have coached a variety of sports all my adult life, swimming, life saving, athletics, kayak and canoe.
