Information about Kassie
I have completed medical school at Newcastle University and having previously studied at Westcliff High Grammar School for Girls I have been fortunate enough to explore my great interest in science and mathematics. I have completed A levels in biology, chemistry, maths and AS level physics (A* and 4As respectively) as well as an open university module in genetics.
At secondary school I completed 11 GCSEs (8 A*s, 3 As) as well as taking on roles such as Deputy Head Girl which allowed me to be involved in a wide range of activities throughout the school and develop communication skills with all age groups. I believe that this helped kindle my interest in tutoring.
Availability: Both weekday evenings and weekends. Open to intensive holiday tutoring.
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: In the past I have tutored in all three sciences and mathematics GCSEs, as well as maths at KS3 level. Other help I have provided has included 11+ preparation, as well as advice to students preparing medical school applications.
On first meeting tutees, I often find that they have, for some time, been disengaged with their subjects due to lacking tailored teaching. I believe strongly that motivating students is key to their success and I aim to help them find a new love or develop a current interest in the topics they are studying. My approach is to provide personalised support for pupils, depending on the way they learn, their current understanding and their interests. This can vary from building a subject up from its foundations, to working on exam technique and the toughest questions in the past papers.
