Information about Abith

Hi, I`m Abith! I am a second year medical student at Imperial College London, achieving 3 A*s at A-Level, 13 A*s at GCSE, scoring in the top 2% in my UCAT and top 5% in the BMAT . Teaching is one of my passions, and regular tutoring during my gap year has fostered this skill, leading to success for all of my students. I understand how rigorous and difficult the school learning system can be, with classes of over thirty students, it may be difficult to receive the tailored support they need. That`s where I hope to come in! I try to personalise my teaching style based on the students needs; some may be visual, verbal or kinaesthetic learners. I also contact all of my students before their lessons to identify what it is they want to focus on or learn, to target their individual needs.

In terms of school academics, I have excelled in every public examination I have taken, attaining the highest grades possible. At GCSE, I obtained 10 qualifications at grade 9, one at grade 8 and an A* with distinction at further maths. I also secured the top grade in the FSMQ Additional Maths Qualification. Furthermore, at A-Level, I obtained straight 3 A* grades in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. Judging by my A-Level subjects, my specialty does lie in the sciences, and when tutoring them I emphasise on exam technique and efficiency in revision strategy. For many of my subjects, the content never came "naturally" to me, and I had to find ways to adapt, developing new tactics and strategies along the way to improve my grades significantly. I believe that there can be a such thing as "too much" revision, and I want all my students to find a balance between schoolwork and their other hobbies. During year 13, I was able to balance my A-Levels alongside martial arts competitions and high level piano playing.

I can also offer help in the medicine application process. Having gone through it twice, I was able to identify every aspect of my application that needed improvement, and also developed an understanding on what medical schools are looking for. I scored in the 98th percentile in my UCAT (3080) and in the 95th percentile in my BMAT (7.6 6 3A), allowing me to obtain interviews at all 4 universities which I applied to. I can also provide assistance with personal statements and interviews.

Coming from a grammar school, I am also available to tutor Eleven Plus Maths and English.

I am conscientious and driven, doing whatever it takes to ensure my students succeed. I hope that I can share my top tips and advice to make sure each and every student of mine reaches their aspirations and goals!

Availability: Currently it is my summer break, so I have plenty of availability to tutor, so please feel free to get in touch!

Willing to travel: 8 miles

Experience: I have experience tutoring Eleven Plus, GCSE sciences and Maths, as well as mentoring students in Biology, Chemistry and Maths for A-Levels. In addition, I have tutored students for the medicine admissions tests, assisted with interview preparation and writing personal statements. I maintain a friendly relationship with every one of my students, keeping the class open to any queries or elements that need to be improved. Having only sat my public examinations recently, I am very familiar with the new curriculum and content and can also relate to every students difficulties when revising for such competitive exams.
