Information about Russell

I currently work in a secondary school in Rugby working in Art and Design & Technology, specifically covering KS3 and KS4 GCSE AQA Product Design and AQA Art & Design.

I am a graduate of the Royal College of Art MA Sculpture programme under the guidance of Professor and artist Richard Wentworth and the BA Fine Art Sculpture programme at Wimbledon College of Art, University of the Arts London and

I currently work within the Expressive Arts Department as Harris C of E Academy and visiting lecturer at Warwickshire College. I have been Visiting Tutor at Brit School in Croydon, London and Associate Lecturer at Wimbledon College of Art and Camberwell College of Arts

In 2012 I was profiled in a University of the Arts London film which charted my progress through art college and my experiences on the London contemporary art scene.
I was selected for Anticipation, an exhibition curated by art collector Kay Saatchi, alongside Catriona Warren, former editor of Art Review magazine. Shortly after graduating from Wimbledon College of Art I was selected for inclusion in the Catlin Guide to the 40 important emerging artists in the UK (a publication which was launched at the London Art Fair and I subsequently won the Annual Catlin Art Prize in 2011, selected by curator Justin Hammond and judged by London gallerist Simon Oldfied, curator Julia Royse and art collector Richard Greer.

I am passionate about teaching as a reflective practice and value arts education. In my spare time I visit art galleries, read and socialise with friends.

Professor Richard Wentworth CBE:

"I write in fervent support of Russell who is one of the most focussed artists in the current RCA Sculpture Second Year. Russell has an unusual talent for picking up on the embedded intelligence in any material and pushing it several steps beyond its habitual use. On the one hand, this might be seen as the baseline of all sculptural activity, but it also asks questions in exactly the way that we expect of anybody with good `design` intelligence.

I warmly recommend Russell to you. You will not be disappointed,"

Richard Wentworth CBE
