I am a friendly, qualified teacher of English who has an excellent track record in boosting the confidence of young people and helping them shape their ideas on paper. I make texts accessible and using probing questions, help students think at the highest level.

My own children are just finishing university, and my husband is also a secondary school teacher. I am also qualified to teach English as a second language.

Experience: I began my degree many years ago at University of Bristol, completing it later with Open University and obtaining a first class honours degree in Humanities with Literature. Training as a teacher 7 years ago and assessed as `Excellent`, I taught in a large comprehensive and now teach KS3, GCSE and A Level English Literature in a selective, high-achieving Berkshire grammar school. I have experience teaching AQA and currently teach Eduqas GCSE and OCR A Level.
Ofsted inspectors who have watched my lessons have commented on my friendly manner and ability to gain students` trust.

In addition to being a teacher of English Language and English Literature in UK schools, I have 15 years experience teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) - which culminated in my owning and running a private tuition school in Italy.
